Greetings with Ronaldo to Warmian-Masurian

Cristiano Ronaldo's life, especially his early career years in Funchal - the Madeira's capital city, can be a great motivation and engagement course not only for British young footballers but also for kids from Warmian-Masurian: more... Our Roman, who is Stomil Olsztyn fan, visited CR7 museum and made, by means of his iPhone®, the footage you can watch above. Moreover, he said he got two CR7 gift sets for Stomil Olsztyn's young footballers. They'll be sent from London to the Socios in Olsztyn soon :)

Christmas trees in Masuria

There's a lot of beautiful Christmas trees in Masurian homes now. This tradition migrated to Poland from Germany between 18th and 19th century. Other regions of our country are used to fir as a Christmas tree. In Masuria we use pines or spruce. The more impressive we make the tree the more health, wealth and peace - we believe - it brings to our home and family for the coming year. But over all gifts we find today under the Christmas tree we always prefer white snow in a forest behind the window to watch. Merry Christmas to all the Europe, many kind greetings from Masuria!

Masurian gingerbreads

Tomorrow, the 24th December, is the most important day we celebrate every 365 days in Poland. There's nothing similar to the Christmas Eve in Polish culture. The supper, we are preparing for almost 24 hours, is just a family supper. This year we've been spending Christmas in different parts of the world, we'd say. However, our Wojtek made something what unites us over borders and time zones. It's on the one hand just Masurian flour with eggs, sugar and ginger. On the other hand gingerbreads are his and Daga's favourite little something for Christmas all we do love always and everywhere...

The Alarm Clock Clinic in Olsztyn

Olsztyn, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city, is proud to announce the first Polish "Alarm Clock Clinic" for adults has been launched. There's one for kids in coma, too. Now they offer also services for people 18+. Quite hard to catch the relation between the name of the clinic and its mission. In Polish you know it at once: "alarm clock" means "budzik" (literraly: an device that wakes up). More abou this:

Warmian-Masurian Ronaldos

Not all of us prepare "barszcz" with "uszka" for Christmas Eve this year. Our Roman has just written from Madeira. There's about 20 deegres more than in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship now? On the one hand not bad, on the other hand no chance for white Christmas at all ;) As a matter of fact, he is Stomil Olsztyn old fan and a member of that football club fans' association. Moreover, he's a professional in strategies relating to the Corporate Social Responsibility. Therefore he decided to visit Cristiano Ronaldo Museum in Funchal, the city CR7 was born in. The point's been a look into Ronaldo's life, in his early years very similar to the one many Warmian-Masurian kids experience yet. Roman wanted to know what had made a boy from relatively poor family living in a distant island became the biggest star of the most popular sport. No simple answer discovered even over there. Everybody says nothing new: hard work & good people around is a key to succeed. So, Roman will bring a few inspiring things for future Ronaldos from Olsztyn. If Funchal won thanks to Ronaldo, why Olsztyn can't win something similar in the future? Today's Funchal is much different from the Funchal of 1980s. It's very modern and entrepreneurial destination for tourists and investors, as well. Very impressive change story. Inspires important conclusions on strategic development, our Roman said. Clever guy, not many people go these days to heaven islands to do anything for someone's hope!

Masurian ravioli for Christmas

Christmas coming this weekend. So, our last Saturday and Sunday fully focused on preparing old, traditional food we are very used to eat during 'Wigilia' (Christmas Eve's supper in Poland). One of the most important dishes is 'barszcz' (beetroot soup) with 'uszka' (little Polish home-made dumplings richly stuffed with forest mushrooms). Takes a lot of time to prepare but their taste, you know - when you use this-year mushrooms from Masuria, is fully worth all the boring work spent for experiencing a big family Christmas. Picture above taken by our Pawel.

Lichens - wonders of Masurian nature

Lichens, thanks to their physical structure, are almost self-sufficient. They can look like shells, leaves or little bushes. It's worth to know lichens living on trees are a good sulphur dioxide bio-sensor. They don't like air pollution. This is why you don't see them in many industrial parts of today's European Union. But you are able to meet many of such unique plants in Masuria. It's a living proof we breath with probably the cleanest air it the EU.

Memorial parks of Masuria

The past shows a lot of multicultural facts in Masuria today. One of them are Masurian cemeteries. You can find here tombs of Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians and Jews. Until the 19th century small cemeteries had been allowed to exist by almost all churches. Since then only reach families were allowed to posses private mausoleums close to their palaces. Masurians used to celebrate the All Saints' Day in late November. Now we do it here as all the western world does, on 1st November.

Chestnut autumn in Masuria

Chestnuts are falling off the trees: brown, shining, smooth and soft. Maybe they look just like simple seeds growing inside green, spiny cups but the tree is also able to heal. It's good at healing e.g. blood vessels. People in Poland find chestnuts as a natural source of our personal and household balance. Moreover, we make from chestnut many nutritious and nourishing products for animals and humans.
