Back to school from Masuria

Last day of summer school holidays today in Poland. Tomorrow kids return to their everyday duties. Thinking about leaving such beautiful Masurian places can be really dangerous for all education systems in entire world, can't it? ;)

Remedy for all bad days changing for a while something crucial in your life? Just another day, starting with a beautiful sunrise like the one seen this year by our Bruno, Maks & Wojtek in Masuria.

Butterflies from Masurian meadow

Butterfly is a symbol of a big change and the charming beauty. This insect becomes adult, amazingly beautified with colourful patterns, after caterpillar and chrysalis stage of living. Walking across green Masurian meadows, living in the summer with plenty of beautiful butterflies, is like a kaleidoscopic adventure and natural feast for your eyes.

Jokes & Czos

Unexpected but nice family evening with Polish television today in Poland. Last year Masurian Cabaret Night on TVP2 now. Bunch of good memories with picturesque Lake Czos and positive stream of LOL-jokes from Mragowo :)

Masuria - wonderland of sunsets in the EU

Save, use as wallpaper, indulge... Not many places in the European Union with comparable number of stunning pictures you can take and you do want to see on your iPhone® always! This beautiful Masurian sunset over the Lake Mikolajskie taken obviously by our Wojtek.

Masurian Nessie

Beautiful sunny day today in Masuria. Time for swimming, time for Masurian lake monsters :) There's no other Nessie in Polish Lake District than our Bruno from time to time but lakes - undoubtedly - stay globally unique anyway!

Masurian Crab Apple

What you meet when you hike or ride across Masurian fields and meadows in the summer? Obviously lake after lake and bird after bird, in general :) However, there's a lot of European crab apple trees too. Don't eat these fruits much. They are rather sour than sweet and relatively good to quench thirst. But much better to use them later at home. It's not an offence in Poland to take a few with you and turn into a good cake or jam.

Masurian Traffic Jams

Black and white MINI vs. black and white best milk 'perpetuum mobile' 0:1 :) Masurian traffic always makes you happy! Picture taken by our Daga, while getting caught in a classic traffic jam in Masuria.

Cross-country mountain biking in Masuria

Masuria is a heaven for a cross-country biking. Country paths look very good among colourful farmlands and make impression you just want to follow vivid colours of Masurian nature beyond the summer horizon. The old glacier, that shaped these beautiful landscapes thousands years ago, left some kind of characteristic fossils you can find by many Masurian roads. They look like little thunder arrows but they're fossil guards, primeval bolemnites that lived in Masuria very long time ago.

Masurians in Rio

It's good to know a few sportsmen from Masuria represent Poland in Rio. No olympic medals for Masuria this time but many thanks to all of them for a great time while watching their efforts on BBC in the UK.

Alcohol Free Olsztyn

Very good travel news from Olsztyn, capital city of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. There's quite big and now 99% alcohol-free municipal beach for family & friends' meetings by the lake Ukiel (Krzywe): www.olsztyn.wm.pl

Holly Place

Probably you don't expect many sacred (and mysterious) spots in northeastern Poland but there's relatively a lot of them. One of the most famous is called "Swiete Miejsce" (English: "Holly Place"). It is located in the forest, upon beautiful Rospuda river, in today's Podlaskie voivodeship. You must visit it in late June, around the summer solstice, to enjoy fully its old mysteriousness. Our Bruno is a brisk little boy but he's always full of respect to the living nature and the ancient times you can feel in a specific way while coming and coming back to the sacred spot "Holly Place".

Virtual Olsztyn-Mazury Tour

Where is the first airport in the world that enables a complete virtual tour? It is the greenest one in our Masuria, it's the Olsztyn-Mazury. Go to the GoogleMaps® app on your smartphone now and enter: Olsztyn-Mazury airport. Next step is to tap on "Street View" and... you can enjoy virtual tour! :)

Perseids in Masuria

Masuria is one of the best places in Poland and in the EU you can watch beautiful perseids streaking across the sky in August. Picture above taken by our Daga with her old iPhone® so you can see the Moon first of all :) However, you'd love this meteor shower over Masuria. Most impressive views are always over the calm surface of Great Masurian Lakes.

Country Picnic

Echoes of the #PiknikCountry in Canary Wharf now? :) No Mragowo's amphitheatre and no Czos lake all around but the same nice people, great weather and extremely good performance by Megan O'Neill! Regards to Masuria from #NashvilleMeetsLondon

Bilberries from Masuria

Really nice summer holiday breakfast: pancakes with local cottage cheese and fresh bilberries you find just outside, in any forest of Masuria. Don't worry about sugar on the pic, all the honey eaten up for a while by our little Masurian-honey-eaters! ;)

The Vendace King

You can regret if you don't speak Polish. The open days of Mikolajki took place in Masuria. It's been 290 years since the town privileges' introduction. This year an old story about the Vendace King turned into the laser technologies show by the VisualSensation you can watch online. Present 'business' version of the plot regards some bad & good adventures local fishermen experienced because of a big vendace fish, the king of all Masurian lakes. Enjoy watching, really nice story.

#STORCH

Great match today in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city. Our Stomil Olsztyn (the Polish Championship team) vs. Ruch Chorzow (from the Polish Premier League) 0:0 after 90+30 minutes (penalties: 6-7). The Polish Cup not for Olsztyn this time. However, we are fully aware it's not the time for Stomil yet. Our Roman, who is professional in strategic advisory, says 2018/2019 will be the best period of Stomil Olsztyn new glory. Anyway, we support our favourite team even today. And we're so happy to see in action the brand new 'KORMORAN' (English: cormorant) mascot co-funded by many old and young Stomil Olsztyn fans, including us. Enjoy pictures taken by them: stomil.olsztyn.pl

Masurian Widelife Summer

Masurian summer is a must for people keen on wildlife that's not only nice to watch but also doesn't make a risk of killing and eating you :) Health & Safety, relating to this, guaranteed: no lion, crocodile or shark met up to now in Masuria!

Mazury Airshow 2016

Mazury Airshow 2016 took place in Masuria last weekend. 17-year tradition, access free of charge and breathtaking views of great airplanes flying over the surface of lake Niegocin. That's a nice event in Gizycko everybody may regret if missed. You can see a few pictures on this friendly photo blog: flyphotos.net

Brexit & Masuria

Looks like 'BREXIT-machine' has been starting. So, a lot of changes in front of the EU. A lot of unexpected changes in front of Poland, as well. More than 1 million Poles in the UK now. Many of them came from Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Who will stay without British citizenship? Almost nobody. Many people will have to return home. Fight for the future of e.g. small Polish airports, that co-operate with low-cost airlines today, seems to be inevitable and hard. Masuria is unique, Masuria is beautiful. This way we win.

New Olympic Hopes!

Olympic Games take place far away from Masuria, in Brazil but we've got a little substitute for them in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Our boys just fell in love with rowing! Poland always used to have great results in water sports. So, this time 4 fingers more crossed for all Polish rowers in Rio :)

Last strawberry standing :)

Strawberries this year made Masurian holiday sweet and juicy again. Not many of them still available in August but here we go! All kids living in Poland of the 1980s would know what is it... Noodles, sour cream, sugar and strawberries ate everyone. Today we do gluten free noodles, low fat sour cream, pure honey instead of sugar but still the same strawberries! Our kids love this :)

The Polish Cup

Two great Polish football clubs of the 1990s - our favourite one: Stomil, and Ruch Chorzow fight for the Polish Cup in the Fourth Round Proper on the 11th August 2016. The match takes place obviously in Olsztyn, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city. Tickets still available, as you see above. So, if you're going to Masuria for your summer holiday, go to watch Stomil Olsztyn vs. Ruch Chorzow. Details: here...

As a matter of fact, Masuria & Warmia have been 'awarded' by the LP with one chapter of their very good guide regarding entire Poland. You can buy PDF file online before going to Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship: here you go... Sale pending, worth every penny! Many thanks to the Lonely Planet. Family holiday in Masuria! :)

No way, you can only love Masuria in summer! Go enjoy the nature you won't find in any other place in the EU :) Picture taken by our Wojtek by means of his iPhone® 6  with a great PLUS

Lonely for Olsztyn

If you are an iPhone® user, there's some quite important voting inside the Lonely Planet app. It regards their plans for new guides. As a matter of fact, everyone can vote. So, why not to do it for Olsztyn, if you love Masuria? Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city does deserve more from today's world than it gets yet. Our wise-head Roman says we always ought to remember nothing good usually happens without a goodwill of thousands of ordinary people we are in fact...

Masurian sunshine for iPhone®

A bit rainy now in Masuria. Also a sad day in entire Poland - we commemorate brave 1944's Warsaw Uprising. Our Wojtek made something to light up today's sorrows. You can save the picture (you see above) as a wallpaper for your iPhone®. One of Masurian lakes, full of sunshine and holiday joy. Greetings from Masuria!
