Masurian b'day present 🎁

What loving kids can do for their loving parents while mother's birthday has come but daughter's running out of pocket money? Lucky Barbara her Daria has the artist head screwed on :) Canadian pancake in Masurian gluten-free version! The girl not only spent all her pennies for a top-up but she also realised quite late there's no flour... However, she found: free-range egg, millet flakes, low fat greek-style yogurt, local eco-honey and fresh raspberries. So, isn't it finally much healthier present than a chocolate bar from the grocery?

Colourful performance in Masuria

Autumn is redecorating Masurian world. Trees make unique impression around sleepy lakes. Their green leaves turn yellow, brown, red and gold in front of us and just for us - people who enjoy pure nature in our Masuria all year long.

Turtles from Masuria

Not many people know a lot of turtles live in the European Union. You can meet them not only in Canary Islands but also in northeastern Poland. European pond turtle is the one living in Masuria. What's very curious, the life span of this turtle is similar to the time we spend on our planet, too. Life span generally is between 50 and 100 years. As a matter of fact, there's special nature reserve for turtles in Masuria named: Jezioro Orlowo Male. Picture above taken by our Friend from Masuria - Mrs. Maria Olszowska, who is retired biology teacher from Mragowo. Many thanks! :)

Masurian 3rd Age

Undoubtedly, Masuria is an unique family-holiday destination. But there is about 1.5m Masurians living over there all year long, too. In general, Polish society is getting older. It's a rising problem of entire European Union. Therefore you can find not only more and more yacht havens or bike trails in Masuria. There are very active Universities of the Third Age in Masuria, as well. One of them is in Mragowo, a small city happily and picturesquely located by the Lake Czos. More about it: here...

Skills in Warmian-Masurian

Last week a big jobs and career event took place in Olsztyn, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city: more... That's a very crucial thing these days. There's quite high unemployment in the northeastern Poland, yet. Basically, it happens despite the EU membership and uniqueness of the local nature. However, Masurians' future looks bright - in our humble, European opinion. Masuria's time coming for sure!

Today we enjoy Masurian pumpkin cream soup with roasted pumpkin seeds by our Pawel. He made it for the Sunday family brunch. It's easy to cook. The only challenge for you, folks in Europe, can be Masurian pumpkin :) Not easy to find outside Poland, yet. Picture taken this time by our Sylwia.

Dreaming with autumn in Masuria

Autumn in Masuria is an unique farewell to the summer we always enjoy on our beautiful lakes. Now you can meet mostly professional sailors on Masurian waters. Birds migrate far away to the south leaving our meadows decorated with crystal clear drops of silent morning dew. Trees are turning into gold, everything green seems to be slowing down in front of coming winter. So do we, dreaming with autumn about the life in Masuria.

A big ropes course for kids coming soon to Olecko in Masuria. This outdoor challenge was a big challenge by itself due to the fact it's a participatory budgeting investment: more... Olecko is not a big city in Masuria but very well known in entire Poland. About 20 years ago they just started to do some kind of unique social and cultural festival inspired by the "Northern Exposure" series (very popular in Polish TV that time). They call it "Przystanek Olecko". It is an eastern Masuria summer event.

Meringue from Masuria

This is exactly what you can expect from free-range eggs! Masurian nature lets you enjoy a real taste of home-made meringue even if you do it in a big city like Warsaw. Mouth-watering & yummy :)

Olsztyn Motor Club

A classic car show took place today in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city. It was the 5th event of the Olsztyn Motor Club. Many beautiful cars were exposed, including rare classics from the gloomy past we used to experience in Poland because of 45 years of the Soviet Union domination.

Chestnut autumn in Masuria

Chestnuts are falling off the trees: brown, shining, smooth and soft. Maybe they look just like simple seeds growing inside green, spiny cups but the tree is also able to heal. It's good at healing e.g. blood vessels. People in Poland find chestnuts as a natural source of our personal and household balance. Moreover, we make from chestnut many nutritious and nourishing products for animals and humans.

Fly to Masuria

The board of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Masurian hotels and tour operators aim together at attracting much more tourists to Masuria via the Olsztyn-Mazury airport. They have released strategic marketing project: "Fly to Masuria". It's a very good idea if you take into account BREXIT can reduce the number of flights from the UK.

Colourful fruit harvesting in Masuria

You can find healthy and tasty Masurian fruits not only in a village orchard but also in the forest or just outdoor, far away from civilised highways. They are waiting for us almost everywhere in Masuria. All look tempting but always eat only washed ones you know very well. Please mind, not all fruits you see on the picture above, are eatable for humans as a raw food.
