Frogs in Masuria

There's a lot of frogs in Masuria due to the fact we've got a lot of lakes and ponds in northeastern Poland. Between March and June they have breeding time. All we ought to know much more about them, because they do a very good job with flies and mosquitoes especially in summer. People understanding the role frogs carry out inside the nature never kill them.

Masurian National Park

We've got a short report from the lecture of our friend - Mrs. Maria Olszowska from Masuria, who is a retired Biology teacher. She carried out that lecture at the University of Third Age in Mragowo last Wednesday. Maria Olszowska has informed the lecture made her happy. She said she had been talking about life of Masurian animals in their favourite environment, the EU network Natura 2000 in Masuria and future Masurian National Park. As a matter of fact, Masuria's looking forward to the Masurian National Park. Taking into account the number of birds coming to the pure nature of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in summer (for their breeding of course), the national park idea is undoubtedly proper. People who attended the lecture seemed to be interested. Nothing unexpected, we have been finding Mrs. Olszowska as a leading professional in Masurian nature since a long time!

She carried it out today for the Third Age University in Mragowo. All we know Masurian nature is a kingdom of animals, too. She knows about it a lot more! 🐰🐸🦊🐞🦆🦋🦉🦌🐿

Easter in Poland

We've been spending family time in Warsaw, Poland 🇵🇱 Easter mostly is a cultural experience in our country. We celebrate it year after year the same good way 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Easter breakfast ought to start in the early morning on Sunday but not this time. We had Easter brunch, in fact 🤗 There were just too many home-made cakes on our wishing list to keep up to traditional breakfast time 🍰 On the other hand, branch-solution makes Easter lunch impossible 👫 You are full enough to take into account staying at home in the afternoon'd be a poor idea. We went for a walk across Old Town streets 🏣 Warsaw has a specific beauty. It's always a nice pleasure to hang out with people you love 🌨 Even thoung the weather was bad, we enjoyed Easter walk much ❤️

Easter time in Poland

Easter breakfast with your family is not less important than Christmas Eve supper we eat all together in Poland. Today we spend a lot of time in the kitchen to prepare special meals for tomorrow; meals we usually eat once a year, even though most of us live in Poland. So, have a look at boiling pot above. There are last year vegetables from Masurian garden. They make a very good base for the white, sour soup. We call it in Polish: "zurek". Another special meal is a sauce made of horseradish, boiled eggs and yogurt. We eat it with vegetable salad (also pictured above). There's also some kind of Easter cake we bake in Poland. It's called in Polish: "mazurek", which means literally a little inhabitant of our beautiful Masuria. Tulips are favourite Balbina's flowers. Cats seem to like Easter in Poland. Dogs mostly prefer Easter baskets, especially sausages they always try to find inside 🙂

White & Blue

What Manchester and Olsztyn have in common? Two things, first of all: White & Blue, as home colours of their leading football teams. Our Roman went from London to Manchester a day or two ago. He decided to go for a while to the Etihad Stadium over there, as well. He bought a few City's gadgets for young footballers from Stomil Olsztyn. He said Manchester City history is full of ups and downs. So is Stomil Olsztyn's one. City play now in the Premier League and they are one of the richest football clubs in the world. But in the past they spent many seasons in Championship. Probably the time for Stomil will come, too. And Olsztyn will have not less beautiful stadium than the Etihad. We cross our fingers for such a nice dream our Roman's talking about almost non-stop 🙂

Polish Purge

There's been a new law introduced in Poland for a while, we hope. If you watched "The Purge", this law is quite similar. The difference is people don't kill people; people can only cut and chop trees on their private properties. It's quite strange, taking into account the fact 6 out of 10 most polluted cities in the European Union are located in southern Poland. Obviously not everyone finds this law useful. We don't, we've been supporting tree planting. As you see, there'll be much more hazels and hazelnuts in pure northern Poland 🌳🌰 Not only our kids are in love with home made hazelnut chocolate! 😋

Masuria by the CultureTrip

We are happy the CultureTrip finds Masuria as one of the 10 most beautiful spots in Poland: more... It's northeastern Poland, quite far away from not only Baltic waters but from Krakow first of all. However, let's say: Thx! We do appreciate the fact Masuria's been noted because of its unique beauty.

V-formations in Masuria

Winter has gone, birds are returning to Masuria. They just find pure nature of northeastern Poland as the best place for their breeding and - obviously - summer holidays! Cranes, cormorants, lapwings and true geese've already arrived. We've been watching their V-formations in the sky. Also storks are coming home. They return with increasing tweets of skylarks.

Driving Warmian-Masurian

The post we published on the 1st April was obviously 'April Fool'. There's no 102 double-decker route to Kortowo and Olsztyn's University is not getting ready for EU students from Hogwarts 😂 Anyway, there's something regarding driving taking place in Olsztyn. Local newspaper started to look for unique restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs with some good drive in Warmian-Masurian. If you fell in love with any place you just return to, let them know until 30th June. Details:

Double-deckers in Olsztyn!

Another good news regarding public transport in Olsztyn, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city. Looks like Transport for Olsztyn, the local TfL counterpart, may be going to implement more buses than it was announced on 21 March 2017. A double-decker spotted by us in Regent Street in London can be some kind of herald for a totally new stage in Olsztyn's public transport history. This bus does not only reveal some newly planned route 102 to Kortowo, the Warmian-Masurian University campus! It also informs about a new hall of residence DS 9 3/4 over there? Now we try to confirm the probability of a new faculties the Warmian-Masurian University could be going to offer soon. It seems they are getting ready for the EU students of Magic from Hogwarts, who are not supposed to get the permanent residence rights in the UK after Brexit. More details: to be continued...
