Water tower in Giżycko

Very nice footage by Pawel Socha, who is a lawyer from Olsztyn in Warmian-Masurian. He visited Giżycko in Masuria, and recorded video you can watch above. It's old water tower in that charming town. On the horizon you enjoy the view of the Lake Niegocin. There's also Giżycko panorama. Good job!

Nesting season in Masuria

We have experienced another nesting season. Many birds that arrived to Masuria for famous Masurian summer have become parents. All our lakes, forests and parks are now homes for little tweeting beings. Isn't it nice, is it? Masuria is alive!

Masuria in Berlin?

Spotted in Berlin, some sort of exhibition on a fence of the construction site in Unter den Linden street. It's the very centre of the capital city of Germany. Many characteristic places in Poland have been exposed but - can you imagine - no Masuria at all! Our artistic vision above, artwork of Masurian poster. Originally it's Warsaw, what our Roman took the picture of.

Disabled-friendly Masuria

Our friend from Mrągowo - Mrs. Maria Olszowska, has sent a picture of disabled butterfly she met in Masuria. It somehow lost some parts of its wings. Sad but this picture let us realise how Masuria has changed since the childhood we spent in communistic Poland. There's a lot of facilities supporting disabled people during the holiday stay in our beautiful Masurian countryside today. The past before Poland joined European Union had been much different. The butterfly you see here on the iPhone® render won't be cured yet, but in the future - who knows? Butterflies make meadows and forests vivid when sun shines. They deserve a good life to spend in the purity of Masuria's nature.

Boisko treningowe to przecież absolutny must-have w Olsztynie!

Kortowiada 2017

If you consider this as a political demonstration, you're wrong. It's "Kortowiada", probably the best Polish students' carnival taking place annually in Olsztyn, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship's capital city. A lot of events have been happening over there, the Miss Venus competition. Everything available onlive, just browse: YouTube

Olsztyn Stadium Story

An interesting article about the Olsztyn stadium: (use online translator - it's really interesting, because the story relates to the northeastern Poland biggest city with wonderful location, not only in a beautiful Polish Lake District but also in the middle of Europe). Long story short: 7 years gone and there's no project finance up to now. There's a lot of explanations and excuses but no project finance up to now? That's even more strange when you consider an unemployment rate in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and the global boom relating to football. No new stadium in Olsztyn, still and still. The old one everybody loves. But it was built long time ago, not for business purposes. As a matter of fact almost nobody in Olsztyn considers the new stadium project as one of the local business acceleration strategy cores. People from Olsztyn look for standard ways of a municipal project development and they fail, of course. There's too many doing the same these days. So, neither Polish authorities nor the European Union is able to help just one another money seeker. And this is the clue, Olsztyn must change the way of thinking about itself. It's not a poor village in Africa. It's a city with a very huge international business potential. The fact we started to think about Masuria and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship this way isn't just a dream of fan. It's an expression of our education, skills and experience. These 3 things make us quite restful when we talk about future.

Spring updates in Masuria

Masurian nature is waking up after winter. Masuria enjoys turning into green, white, yellow and purple. Flowers are blooming very nice. There'll be a lot of work for bees this year. It's still quite chilly outdoor but this will change very soon, too.

Polish food in the UK after Brexit

What is sure for sure the Brexit can change most in 2 years? We know nothing today, in fact. Brexit negotiations have not started, yet. But food industry in Europe is supposed to face a lot of changes. The price you see on the picture above has not changed for years in London. It is necessary to keep it competitive on the British market - the market almost everything from everywhere is available. Polish cottage cheese has a good value-for-money rate due to the fact there are no customs duty inside the European Union. Brexit will change those rates. Even 3% customs duty the UK can implement after Brexit, to protect local products, can imply changes in Poland. To keep the £1.09 price in the UK reduced number of staff probably will have to do "Mazurski Smak". Nobody can reduce quality of food these days. This way more work for less people seems to be the easiest way to stay on the shelf in the UK. Therefore we think it is very important for Poland to keep an eye on negotiations: EU-UK.

The Armour and Habit

A new documentary film by Pawel Pitera, about the Teutonic Knights' dark ages in northeastern Poland, is being made in Warmian-Masurian. You can watch trailer on: Vimeo. Please, be aware it contains flashing images as well as images that some viewers may find very disturbing. The time Teutonic Knights lived in today's Poland, about 600yrs ago, was full of violence and blood. It's a fact.

Sailing season opening in Masuria

Sailing season was officially opened today in Gizycko, one of the most beautiful towns in Masuria: Gizycko is located almost in the very centre of Masuria, between lakes: Niegocin and Kisajno. They have a swing bridge in town. It's an unique masterpiece of technique. Today's opening of that bridge marks the new sailing season open.
