Thriving meadows in hot Masuria

The weather is very hot in Masuria now. Temperatures are over +30C. Our friend from Mrągowo, Mrs. Maria Olszowska - who is retired Biology teacher, has sent several pictures of Masurian meadows. The situation is quite clear over there: everything thrives 🌞 Flowers, flowers everywhere!

Impossible happens when you know very good where are you from and where are you going to for good. One week of improving football skills with Tottenham is a great success of our Maks but it wouldn't be possible even not only because of our Roman. It wouldn't be possible without all people, including Polish airmen in the UK, who made the WW2 just a sad past we don't face anymore. Therefore both boys - as Stomil Olsztyn fans, went to Northolt yesterday to express with a deep joy, our gratitude for the present days in the EU with a lot of football and without a war. Thank you, thank you all.

Distant shore of Śniardwy

When you sail across Śniardwy - the biggest lake in Masuria, you can usually see its shore all around. In spite of the fact our Śniardwy is over 13 miles long and over 8 miles wide, the shore is almost always visible looking north, south, east or west. Almost. Sometimes, when a wind blows and waves are relatively high, you can feel like sailing on a big sea. There's no distant shore of Śniardwy in front of your eyes. Enjoy! 👌🏻😎

Mrągowia Mrągowo

Mrągowo, a charming town in Masuria, has been refurbishing their local stadium. We've got a pic from our Masurian friend, Maria Olszowska. It's not any impressive venue but useful for quite small community. It's located close to the one of Mrągowo's highschools. "Mrągowia" - Mrągowo's football club with just 50-year history, plays over there: more...

If anybody tells you: football is agressive, football is for infantile people or football means wasting money and life time, do not believe those words from a gloomy past. Football today is a source of hopes and motivations for all kids. Moreover, football gives a lot of good jobs for everyone (not only for 'friends of friends'). Our Maks started today Tottenham summer school in London. It's his award for being good not only at football but at school, first of all. He's just 12 now and plays mobile games quite much. But he catches also well what is important in life. He wants to play for Poland in the World Cup 2030. Who wouldn't like, would they? Aristotle used to say that a good objective implies the good things happen while reaching that objective. Can you see this? Try, try and never give up - it's our duty to make our world a good little place to live in for all kids (not only for a few of them). Regards! ⚽️

Szczytno Open Weekend

Szczytno is another city from the Warmian-Masurian that carries out several public events this weekend: more... The idea of "Days and Nights in Szczytno" links all of them to each other. You probably can remember there was a very important Teutonic castle in medieval times. One of the best Polish writers - Henryk Sienkiewicz, wrote a lot about it in his world-famous novel "Krzyżacy". Today's open weekend relates to the past quite much. But contemporary Polish music's also a crucial part of the celebration. Such open weekends look tempting!

Saving bees in Masuria

A chemical contamination of natural environment decreases the number of bees in the whole world. Bees are leading pollination vectors. We can be deprived of flowers, fruits, vegetables and cereal without them. Albert Einstein used to say we’d have just four years left to live once the last bee has died. To prevent bees’ dying-out we build special ‘hotels’ for them (you see on the picture above) in Masuria. We do this even though Masurian nature is almost pollution-free 🐝

Kids and feeds

Another attraction kids do love, while resting on agritouristic holiday in Masuria, is feeding domestic animals. All those cows, horses, hens, ducks and other bunnies - everything is so cute and you just have to feed them if you are almost adult and normally live in a big city. But be careful, even lovely domestic animals can sometimes be unpredictable. They usually do their job - are easy to be feeded. However, you always ought to join small kid who is going to take care of feeding e.g. a big cow! 🐄

Active harvest time in Masuria

When you rest on an agritouristic holiday in Masuria you can actively enjoy the harvest time at rural work. Masurian farmers let sometimes take part in their standard duties they carry out in summer. Just ask, it can be a good experience to see by yourself where muesli ingredients come from... 👨🏼‍🌾 👩🏻‍🌾

Nice aerial view of Węgorzewo in "Masuria Naturally", the rock festival's footage. Go to YouTube to have a look: watch... Węgorzewo is quite unique town in Masuria. You wouldn't say it's on any lake shore but, in fact, it has a popular harbour. There's a river Węgorapa and Węgorzewski canal linking Węgorzewo to Mamry, the second biggest lake in Polish Lake District.

Masuria Naturally

There's a rock festival "Masuria Naturally" this weekend in Węgorzewo, one of the most unique towns in Masuria. Polish rock bands play, but not only those famous ones. There's also a Grand Prix challenge for 11 new bands on the Polish rock music market. The festival has a very interesting idea to pass on to people attending. It's a need of awareness concerning human organ transplantation expressed with words: "I leave my heart on Earth, I leave my heart in Masuria". As a matter of fact people are able to buy local food too. Moreover, they can even take part in a debate on music and internet. All details online:

The Konik

The konik horse breed have their home in Masuria. They are today's little and long-living cousins of an old Mustang-like wild horse - Tarpan, living in a great number in medieval forests of Poland. There's some special breeding program concerning Koniks that is being carried out by the Polish scientists in a research station in Popielno: more... The station is located about 250 meters from Śniardwy, the biggest lake in Masurian Lake District.
