Love PL100 Checkerboard

Poland celebrate the 100th anniversary of independence this year. Our family in London help one of the oldest charity organisations - the Polish University Abroad, to develop in global world. They start very unique seminar comprising of many patriotic issues. The first one relates to Ignacy Jan Paderewski - one of the most famous pianists in Polish history, who made a lot in 1918 for independent Poland. As a matter of fact, our artist - Daria, also takes - somehow - part in that event at PUA. She made a simple, white and red bracelet that will be worn by our Grażyna during that event. Daria named her creation just: “Love PL100 Checkerboard” ❤️🇵🇱

The Beast from the East in Masuria

Very cold air has been coming to Europe from Siberia. Our family in the UK say that British media call it: “Beast from the East”. Nothing unusual for us to experience e.g. -15C! 😀 Have a look at the picture above. This is Masuria in February we can remember from our childhood in 1980s. Picture was taken by our Masurian friend - Maria Olszowska from Mrągowo. Looks cold, doesn’t it?! ❄️ 💨

Masurian forest in not Masurian winter

We've received a bunch of fresh pictures from our Masurian friend - Mrs. Maria Olszowska from Mrągowo. What you see above is Masurian forest in... today's winter, eh! None of us has been able to remember such a shortage of snow in Masuria in February. But it's been happening since a few years. Climate changes are quite well visible fact in our Masuria.

Chinese year of Gofer

Chinese year of dog started last weekend. People say it will be a year of high responsibility, good communication and everything what’s relating to serious friendship not only between people loving each other. The year of dog brings a lot of good memories to our family. They regard our Gofer. He is in dogs’ heaven now and plays with other cherubic dogs. However, he’ll always stay in our minds as the most patient dog enjoying Masurian countryside. All weekends and holidays spent in Masuria during 13 years of his life were never enough for him. Rest in peace but play as much as you want now, dear Gofer!

Family sport tradition

Looks like family tradition has been starting to continue. Our Bruno follows our Roman sport path. He fell in love with basketball for good and plays for “Kangury” team in Warsaw. What you see above is his first league match. Unlike Roman, who used to play as SF, Bruno seems to start the career as PG. Bruno doesn’t tend to be higher than Roman in the future. However, he’ll be 6’ for sure. Family fingers crossed 🤞🏻

When one Mazur meets Podlaskie

Today some important meeting took place in London. The Secretary of State for International Dialogue in Poland - Mrs. Anna Maria Anders, visited the Polish University Abroad. As you know, our Roman is Strategic Development Director for that charity focused on higher education of Polish people in the UK. What’s crucial, Anna Maria Anders is also a member of higher chamber of the Parliament in Poland. She represents Podlaskie, the closest voivodeship to the Warmian-Masurian. Moreover, her father was one of the best soldiers in Polish history: gen. Władysław Anders. He lived in London for 25 years after the WW2. Anna Maria Anders was born in London and studied in the UK. As a matter of fact, they both - she and our Roman, have MBA from American universities. Anna Maria Anders from Boston University, our Roman from Denver University. Great meeting, Roman said. Have a look at the selfie, isn’t it nice?

Walentyna Dermacka‘s Regional Museum

There’s a lot of local art galleries in small Masurian towns and villages. One of them is Walentyna Dermacka‘s Regional Museum in Piecki, close to Mrągowo. It’s a venue full of clay statuettes. They are very unique due to the creation process. In fact, you can see 1143 little men and women over there. Among them are: Adam and Eve, old Polish farmers and potters. There’s also a lot of Christian characters and even musicians living in Masuria long time ago. It’s really worth to visit Piecki and enjoy all those tiny exhibits.

Masurian pancake day 2018

Pancake Day 2018 today in the UK was - eh - a beautiful day... for a while 😀 You know, such things happen when you want to take a perfect picture of not too perfect pancake structure 😁 So, instead of #PerfectPancakes winner, we’ve had... a fish trying to get to the surface of frozen Masurian lake or something 😂 Anyway, happy pancake day to all!

PM in Masuria

Polish PM - Mateusz Morawiecki, has visited Masuria. You probably can remember that Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship is a leading furniture making zone in the European Union. There’s about 1k manufacturers employing over 14k people due to our best European forests and wood. Modern furniture is one of the most recognisable Polish export faces not only in the EU. We’re exporting goods worth over £2bn each year. And this is growing and growing! Polish furniture in the EU means succes 👌👆🏼 As a matter of fact our Roman met Mateusz Morawiecki a few years ago at London School of Economics. They talked about returns of Polish youth from the emigration in the UK to Poland. Roman is a honorary director for one of the biggest Polish charity organisations outside Poland - the Polish University Abroad in London, due to his unique mangement and Corporate Social Responsibility skills. Roman supports returns, however he is fully aware of the fact Poland is still not ready for such a thing. Polish migrants in the UK are used to much bigger salaries than you usually get in Poland yet. However, future is open - our smart Roman always says 🤞🏻 Post via

Widzew v Stomil

Two great Polish football brands of 1990s met each other yesterday. Widzew Łódź & Stomil Olsztyn had a sparring match on Saturday. Widzew won 2:0 but it doesn’t mean much for Stomil. Our team’s been getting ready for the beginning of March and start of second round of 2017/2018 matches in Polish Championship. Our family fingers crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Masurian pizza day

National pizza day today in the UK. All our boys say it’s a celebration of the year, cos nothing can be better than pizza for dinner. Obviously they are wrong, vegan gluten-free pizza can be even better 😅 Here we go with female-friendly pizza in our healthy Masurian style: DiscoverMasuria’s pizza for all.

Fat B’day

Here we go with pączki - Polish doughnuts, to celebrate not only „Fat Thursday” but also our Daga’s birthday. She’s 21 - of course - as usually 😂❤️😎 This year b’day of hers is even more unique due to the last Thursday of the carnival in Poland. We usually call it Tłusty Czwartek and eat a lot of our version of doughnuts. Original Polish ones you can see in the top right corner of the picture above. Everything else is a free variation of pączki, including Daga’s birthday cake like doughnut! 🍩🎉🎂

Masurian winter mix

Unusual winter in Masuria this year. We had snow, frost and hard rime. Now we've got something like a very early spring. That's not an usual weather for Masurian winter. What a big climate change, in fact.
